Thin film type

Thin film type

Thin-film solar cells are solar cells made by coating a light-absorbing material on a substrate such as glass or plastic in a film (micron thick) thinner than a hair. They are lighter, more flexible, and cheaper than existing crystalline silicon solar cells, so they can be applied to various places such as building windows, exterior walls, and vehicles. However, they still have the disadvantage of low energy conversion efficiency, so research is ongoing to improve efficiency.
